Mendacino
We rolled into a little place called Mendacino (pronounced 'see-no' not 'cheeno'!!...as we've been told by a couple of locals) last night. It's a very Arty place, but it's 2 real assets is that it is right by the ocean and it's where Murder She Wrote was filmed.
RPC and I spent an hour last night looking around the Arts Centre here, it's amazing. It's really a collection of different studio spaces (weaving, glass, ceramics etc.) that also run classes. Some of the art we saw was outstanding, so much better than the usual " seaside watercolour brigade" that usually cling to seaside towns. A very inspirational place that's run by some fantstic characters... Belfast take note!!!
So I'm sitting on our hotel balcony getting a slow morning tan and painting a few canvases to drop here... then I'm gonna hunt me down an Angela Landsbury!!

Dharma and Greggg...
Found the most bizarrely amazing place just south of Ukiah on our way to the big redwoods, the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. The coolest thing is that it used to be an insane asylum, but now it is a Buddhist elementary school and university. I decided to leave my own little 10X10 piece of good karma and I call him Greggg.....
... I left Greggg off outside the main prayer building which contained the 10,000 Buddhas...
.... cool!... a carpenters dream! Happy trails Greggg!

Lake Tahoe-a-go-go!
Rockpoolcandy and myself have found ourselves on the sandy shores of Lake Tahoe. This place is crazyville, it's split down the middle between California and Nevada. All the casinos and cheap gas are in Nevada and all the groovy 50's beach motels are on the Californian side. We're sitting in a little bay with the snow clouds hovering over the Sierra Nevada mountains behind us but it's still about 20 degrees.... I couldn't help but paint a few tarpitters while RPC whittles another gorgeous crochet hook.... and it's Guy Fawks night, go figure!.. now where's that cold beer!
